A Note From the Composer:
I have to admit, despite being a music theory/composition major in college, music theory was not my forte. Added along with the fact that music theory class was at 8 a.m. in the morning, five times a week… making it through two years of such torture was grueling for a young undergrad like myself. So I felt quite refreshed when our final assignment of the semester was to write a sonata. Sure, we still had to “incorporate elements” that we had learned over the semester, but I was happy to do what I wanted to do to begin with – compose. This sonata was what came out of that assignment, and unlike many of my composition-related school assignments, I was satisfied with this one. Who knows? Maybe I’ll write a second piano sonata someday…
