A Note From the Composer:
The simple melody of this piece was created at the piano in the aftermath of hearing some bad news. For some reason, however, I never wrote it down or tried developing it – it stayed in my brain and came out every once in a while when I was at the piano. It wasn’t until about a year later that I finally needed to get it out. I was going through a difficult time in my life, and there were moments that I felt completely helpless. Restless. Unable to sleep. So the music came out, and from the music, the words. I chose the title Overcome because of the multiple ways in which it can be applied to the meaning of the song: As an adjective (feeling overcome with emotion), or as a verb (striving to overcome, or acknowledging what has been overcome).
