A Note From the Composer:
At one point in my college career, I made it a goal for myself to enter one contest a month for a semester. This would challenge me to get music done by a deadline, whether I wanted to give it more time or not – a very healthy exercise for a young composer. One contest required a piece written for a woodwind quintet, and thus, Life Moves On was born. Not only was composing for contests good practice for meeting deadlines, it was also healthy for incentivising me to experiment with instruments I wasn’t quite as familiar with. I remember the initial motif heard right at the start of the piece came to me as I was walking to the cafeteria on campus. Perhaps an empty stomach inspires hungry musical ideas.
